Howard Lane, age 75, (ASI Class of 1958) of Union Mills, NC, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.

He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Mal Thomas Lane and the late Mary Lee Davis Lane. He was a member of Cane Creek Baptist Church in Union Mills and served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon and on various other committees. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of three years and a Retired U.S. National Guard Veteran with 20 years’ service. Howard Retired from Great Lakes Carbon in Morganton, NC with 26 years of service. Howard was a loving father, husband, grandfather and a friend to all. He loved to collect antiques but most of all he loved the Lord and loved to witness to others about the Lord. He was preceded in death by one brother James Lane.

He is survived by his wife: Betty Lane. One Daughter: Debra Hawkins and husband Jamie of Shiloh One Son: Chris Lane and wife Lesa of Union Mills
Two Sisters: Estelle Honeycutt and Betty Jo Anderson and husband Charles. Two Brothers: Ernest Lane and Randall Lane
Four Grandchildren: Courtney Hawkins, Landen Lane, Cassie Hawkins and Harrison Lane and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, May 13, 2016 at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at Cane Creek Baptist Church in Union Mills at 3:00 PM, Saturday, May 14, 2016 with Rev. Danny Camp Jr. and Rev Jerry Campbell officiating. Interment will be at Cane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Cane Creek Baptist Church Youth Fund at 151 Cane Creek Mt. Rd. Union Mills , NC 28167. The family is gathering at the home of Betty Lane. An online guest register/tribute wall os available at. McMahan's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in charge of the arrangements.
